Taking it one step at a time

I've gotten some more work done on the scraproom. Here's a picture of the wall unit completely empty.
This is what the new Elfa system looks like with nothing on it yet...
Here it is with my Cricut, ribbon rack, and ink storage... just the beginning.
I'll post some more when it's finished. I'll also include pictures of how the rest of the room looks with all my scrapping supplies organized and not thrown all over the room.

Scraproom Before

I ventured out in the snow today, which turned out to be no problem at all since the roads ended up being fairly clear. I picked up a friend (who is also a scrapbooker) and headed over to the Container Store to pick up the Elfa unit. She had never been there but thought it was really cool. Well, I'll be moving some stuff around to clear out the area where the unit is going. I figured I would post some before pictures now to give you an idea of what I'm working with. I wish I had pictures of the dining room when that was my work area because it's even worse than this.

I hope to get the new unit set up by the end of this week. I'll take some pictures throughout the process as well.

Some updates

Last week, I won a set of Cri-Kits from Creations with Christina. I haven't had a chance to try them out yet, but I can't wait until I do. Since it's winter break this week, and it's the Annual Elfa Sale at the Container Store, I'm going to venture out either later today (after the roads are a little more clear) or tomorrow to pick up my new scraproom system. I will finally have an organized place to create! That will be so great because I went from my dining room table (actually, my parents' dining room table) to my spare bedroom where there's nowhere to work. I'll still be in that room, but I'll have a whole wall of workspace and storage space. My goal is to put all of my supplies on that one wall. I'll post some before and after pictures once I'm finished.

Proud of Myself

I'm really excited because I'm working on organizing the supplies I have currently, and not buying many more to just sit around and junk up my room anymore. I will be able to start buying again soon though since the Annual Elfa Sale at The Container Store starts either Friday or Sunday. I'm going there to get a new scrapbook desk and organizer by creating myself a wall of shelves and drawers and stuff. Hopefully I'll be able to post some pictures of an actual scraproom one of these days!

Black Friday!!

I had a very successful Thanksgiving night, Black Friday, and even Saturday! I ordered a stamp pad storage unit online which I'm awaiting as well as a light from joann.com... Here's the stuff I bought in the stores.

This is from Joann's
I was good at A.C. Moore
I went a little crazy at Michael's.  They had Gypsy accessories for 50% off so I had to buy the silicon case for my girl... The Cuttlebug folders weren't supposed to be on sale, but there was an expired 40% off sign posted, so they honored it before QUICKLY removing it from the shelf. I really lucked out on that one!

Christmas Cards TO Soldiers

These are the cards I made to send as cards TO soldiers who are deployed overseas.  The sentiments on the inside say either "May the closeness of friends, the comfort of home, and the unity of our nation renew your spirits this holiday season" or "Merry Christmas (or Happy Holidays) and Happy New Year. Thank you for keeping us free."

It's All About Baby Steps

Ok, so I said I can't wait until late December to get the room organized. Today I went to Joann's and bought an Iris unit to hold my 12x12 papers in 6 bins. I was also looking at racks to hold ribbon and my boyfriend (who's VERY good with tools and building) and he offered to make me one! It will be SOOO much less expensive and easier because I can have it look exactly how I want. This also gives him an excuse to buy a new blade for his saw, so he's happy with that.

Moving the Scraproom... It's a Love/Hate Kinda Thing

Until last weekend, I used my dining room (well, my parents' dining room) as a scraproom. (Hey, it's ok, my mom used it too!) Well, they decided they wanted a dining room again, so I had to move the scraproom to my spare bedroom. That room is also a guest room and a storage room/lounge for me. Right now, my scrap stuff is ALL over the place. I'm using an entertainment center for my E and storing almost everything, but it's REALLY small and has very little storage space. I also have a small desk and a trunk in there. I have paper on the floor in piles at the moment (except my solid cardstock- that's in Cropper Hoppers in a section of the desk). I'm thinking of getting rid of the entertainment center and installing an Elfa unit from The Container Store, but I'm trying to wait until after Christmas when I was told all the Elfa stuff will be 25-30% off. That's the only way I'll be able to afford it... I'm just not sure I can wait that long. Until then, I guess I'll be working on planning where everything will go and ways to store it all on the shelves when I get them... I'm going crazy with it the way it is right now though!! I don't want to wait a month and a half for my new storage/crafting space!

My Christmas Cards for Soldiers

Here are the Cards for Soldiers that I made. I was able to get over 100 done, so most of these have multiples. They are not all exactly the same, but they are very similar.

Christmas Cards for Soldiers from my Students

I finally had a chance to upload the pictures of my Christmas Cards for Soldiers onto my computer.  These are cards that the students in my Cards for Soldiers Club at work made.
